Who We Are
About Budding Heros

At Budding Heroes Pediatric Dentistry, we’re proud to be a trusted provider of children’s dental care in Itasca, IL and the surrounding communities.

Dr. Adetowun Alimi-Ukoha is a compassionate pediatric dentist dedicated to providing gentle, high-quality dental care in a welcoming and supportive environment. Her passion for working with children and serving families led her to pursue advanced training in pediatric dentistry at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where she gained extensive experience caring for young patients with diverse dental needs.

Dr. Alimi-Ukoha earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Doctorate in Dentistry from Creighton University. She has specialized expertise in oral sedation and in-office general anesthesia, allowing her to safely and comfortably treat children who may feel anxious or require advanced care. She also holds hospital privileges at Ascension St. Alexis Hospital and remains actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Board of Pediatric Dentists and the Illinois Society of Pediatric Dentists.

At the heart of Dr. Alimi-Ukoha’s approach is a commitment to building trust with both children and parents. She believes that positive early dental experiences are essential to lifelong oral health and strives to educate families while making each visit calm, reassuring, and fun.
Outside of the office, Dr. Alimi-Ukoha enjoys sports, traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending meaningful time with her family—interests that reflect the same warmth and balance she brings to her practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When should my child first see a dentist?
We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental visit by their first birthday or when their first tooth appears—whichever comes first.

2. How often should my child visit the dentist?
Children should see a dentist every six months for regular cleanings and exams, just like adults.

3. Are baby teeth really that important?
Yes! Baby teeth help with speech development, proper chewing, and act as placeholders for adult teeth.

4. What if my child is scared of the dentist?
Our team specializes in making kids feel comfortable. We use calming language, kid-friendly explanations, and lots of encouragement to ease dental anxiety.

5. Do you offer emergency dental care for kids?
Absolutely. We offer same-day appointments for urgent dental issues like toothaches, chipped teeth, or injuries.
